Abstract
This review examines field and laboratory research comparisons of audio teleconferences and face‐to‐face meetings. Summaries of the strengths and weaknesses of each mode for relevant task (e.g., problem solving, negotiating, and interviews) and group process variables (e.g., person perception and communication climate) provide a basis for selecting the communication mode appropriate to specific communication needs. Keywords
