Modeling of Turbulent Mixing and Reactions in Chemical Lasers.

Abstract
A complete second-order closure program for the investigation of compressible, turbulent, reacting shear layers has been developed. The equations for the means and the second-order correlations are derived from the time-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The equations contain third- and higher- order correlations, which have to be modeled in terms of the lower-order correlations. The program uses fluid mechanical turbulence models developed over the last two decades.
