Abstract
A novel approach for designing a frequency-scanning millimeter-wave antenna is described. The antenna is constructed by using an image wide leaky-wave antenna embedded in a long trough with metal flares along both sides. The optimum flare angle for achieving maximum gain is theoretically predicted. The design of the leaky-wave antenna, which is comprised of metallic-strip perturbations on top of a dielectric guide, is also discussed. Keywords
