Abstract
The study replicated Tringo's (1970) research in which respondents were asked their relative attitudes about various groups, including the aging. Results indicated a positive shift in attitudes toward older persons. Findings are discussed in terms of Harasymiw's notion of a continuum of normalcy, Tibbitts' view regarding improving societal attitudes toward older people, and Schonfield's conclusion that Americans do not hold negative attitudes toward older persons. Keywords
