Abstract
The large transition rates in the rotational band based on the 0+ state at 6.05 MeV in 16O are studied using Eisenberg, Spicer, and Rose's model for the even-parity states. The transition rates from low-lying 4+ states to low-lying 2+ states and from these 2+ states to the first excited 0+ state are calculated. The calculated values are much smaller than the experimental ones. Keywords
