Abstract
The structure factor S(Q) of the metallic alloy glass Cu66Ti34, measured by neutron diffraction is unlike the structure factor of any other metallic glass. In particular an intense 'pre-peak' is observed at Q=1.9 AA-1, while the normal 'first' peak is relatively weak. The main effect of the pre-peak is to change the intensities of the peaks in the reduced radial distribution function G(r), rather than their positions. This may, therefore, be associated with chemical ordering between copper and titanium atoms. Keywords
