The frequency of the most commonly used theoretical frameworks in Nursing Research and their references plus trends in their use are identified for January 1974-June 1985. The results of this literature review can be used as a reference guide for both nursing faculty and graduate students to aid them in selecting theoretical frameworks for research projects or theses.
