Simultaneous Development of Platelet Factor 4 Activity and Release of 14C-Serotonin

Abstract
Development of platelet factor 4 activity induced under various conditions by ADP, epinephrine, or connective tissue correlated well with release of 14C-serotonin measured simultaneously. In many ways connective tissue behaved differently from ADP and epinephrine, e.g., it caused PF-4 activity and 140-serotonin release in unstirred platelet-rich plasma and was effective in platelet-rich plasma from a thrombasthenic patient whereas ADP and epinephrine were not. * Work partially supported by U.S. Public Health Service Grant No. HE-12859, National Heart and Lung Institute.
