Abstract
A total of 969 mice Mus musculus of various ages were killed under different environmental temps. by ether or chloroform vapor. The length of time elapsing before death showed (for mice less than 3 wks. old) negative correlations with both age and environmental temp. These observations indicated that a fall in the internal temp. was probably the principal cause of the slower effectiveness of the anesthetic in young mice. Such results bear upon the use of a lowered body temp. with anesthesia in human surgery. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
