Abstract
We studied clay mineralogical and chemical properties of Murtip and Quillayute soils from Oregon that are classified as Typic Dystrandepts. The soils are nonallophanic and have clay fractions dominated by chloritized 2:1 minerals. Both showed chemical properties similar to those of most nonallophanic Andisols from Japan and satisfied the criteria for andic soil properties. The strong allic properties of the soils were due to the abundance of chloritized 2:1 mineral and low base saturation.This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
