Abscess in Newborn Infants Caused by Mycoplasma

Abstract
M. hominis was isolated from pus which was drained from a skin abscess of an infant at 7 and again at 27 days of age. The same organism was isolated from the vagina of the infant's mother. These findings provide additional evidence indicating that M. hominis, a normal inhabitant of the female genital tract, may not only colonize infants during passage through the birth canal but may also produce clinical illness in the newborn infant.
