Abstract
The wake potential due to the exchange of virtual plasmons between two fast ions is calculated in a self-consistent manner by carrying out two canonical transformations. We show that the wake potential between two ions depends on each velocity in special way, and a deviation from the sine-type standing wave appears. It is also shown that the potential has a finite value along the ion path. Keywords
