Abstract
A short test of 5 consonants (p ,b,m,d and t) incorporated in a list of 15 words was given to 96 cerebral palsy children from 4-16 yrs. The study concerned an analysis of the internal relationships among a selection of these consonants. Four criteria were considered: reliability, difficulty of items, discriminating power, and uniqueness. Coefficient of reliability for verbal part of test was 0.91, for picture test, 0.92. Difficulties of items ranged from 33% to 88%. Discriminating power of items was high, median coefficient being 0.75, whereas uniqueness of the items had a median coefficient of 0.47. The words used were ball, bed, rabbit, tub, cup, ice-cream, milk, pig, hat, mama, kitten, dog, candy, table, and apple, presented in the form of pictures to which children were instructed to respond by repeating the word when spoken by the experimenter. Keywords
