Experimental Hydrocephalus

Abstract
A tightly-rolled cylinder of cellophane was inserted into the aqueduct of Sylvius of dogs, producing cicatrical block and hydrocephalus in 74% of those surviving 1 wk. or more. In a later series of 11 dogs, using antisepticized cellophane, hydrocephalus was found in 100%. Autoclaved cellophane was less effective. Use of animals so treated in investigation of therapy will be reported elsewhere. The literature in the field is reviewed (32 refs.).
