Abstract
INSULIN RESISTANCE AND HYPERTENSION: Hypertension is often associated with insulin resistance, which may be the underlying cause of hypertension in many cases. The whole complex of insulin resistance and its related factors appears to be based on a reduction in nutritional blood flow to large muscle groups. EFFECT OF TREATMENT: Blood flow is further reduced during beta-blockade but improves during alpha 1-blockade, which may explain the contrasting effects of these treatments on insulin resistance and triglyceride metabolism. Keywords
