Abstract
Tubercle bacilli of the strain H37RV, isolated from a guinea pig, were used to inoculate guinea pigs of the Hartley strain. 99 virgin females were divided into 5 groups so that each group had a similar wt. distr. and a mean wt. of approx. 400 g. Group I contained 19 pigs and the other 4, 20 pigs. All pigs were inoculated; Group I, untreated; II, usnic acid; III, 6 mg./day of streptomycin; IV, 2 mg./day of streptomycin; V, usnic acid plus 2 mg./day of streptomycin. A comparable retardation of the development of the disease was obtained in Groups III and V, only. Keywords
