Poisoning effects of Li+ and F? ions in alumina for N2O decomposition

Abstract
The deactivation of alumina, with respect to N2O decomposition, brought about by doping with various amounts of Li+ and F ions has been studied. It was demonstrated that the deactivation caused by Li+ is due to the fact that these ions cause a decrease in the specific surface area. On the other hand, it was concluded that the deactivation observed after doping with F ions should be attributed to both the decrease of the specific surface area and the diminution of the surface concentration of active sites.
