Ventriculo-atriostomy; a technical Note: The Accurate Placement of the Distal End of the Shunt into the Right Atrium without X-Ray Control

Abstract
A new method has been described for the accurate placing of the distal end of the ventriculo-atrial shunt into the right heart without x-ray controls. This has been successful in over a dozen cases, increasing the safety of the operation and reducing the time necessary for this surgical procedure. Description d'une nouvelle méthode consistant à introduire dans l'oreillette droite l'extrémité inférieure d'un tube de dérivation du liquide ventriculaire sans contrôle radiologique. Dans plus de 12 cas cette méthode a été un succès; d'un côté elle augmente la sécurité de l'intervention, de l'autre elle réduit le temps de l'acte opératoire. Es wird eine neue Methode zur exakten Lokalisation des distalen Endes der Ventrikel-Vorhofs-Drainage im rechten Herzen ohne röntgenologische Kontrolle beschrieben. Das Verfahren hat sich in über einem Dutzend Fällen erfolgreich bewährt. Es vermindert das Operationsrisiko und verkürzt die Eingriffsdauer. Se describe un nuevo método para la localización exacta de la extremidad distal del drenaje atrio-ventricular en el corazón derecho sin control roentgenológico. El proceso se ha mostrado como muy valioso y con éxito en más de una docena de casos.
