Abstract
The idea that students could be taught to be more effective learners, in distinction to being taught subject matter, is explored in relation to recent advances in the cognitive and neurosciences, with the objective of integrating information from these sources into a unified viewpoint that could serve as a roadmap for research and as a context for discussion.Keywords
