Abstract
Semi-empirical cross-sections and rates are presented for transitions between highly excited levels of positively-charged hydrogenic ions and hydrogen induced by electron impact. The present results extends previous results obtained for hydrogen by Gee et al., to include positively-charged ions with charge |$Z_3 -1 \gt 0$| which are of importance in stellar atmospheres, and also increases the range of energies and temperatures for which the formulae are valid. Both cross-sections and rates are valid whenever the initial and final quantum numbers satisfy |$n, \enspace n^\prime \geqslant 5$|.
