Abstract
The abdominal and lumbar muscles of rat, ferret, dog and hare have been measured and their arrangement noted. Rough calculations have been made of the flexor or extensor moment each muscle can exert, about a mid‐lumbar intervertebral joint. Comparisons are made with previously published data on man.Keywords
