Investigation of the Use of Calcein in the Ultramicro Fluorometric Determination of Calcium in Serum

Abstract
Calcium in serum is commonly determined fluorometrically with calcium-calcein as the fluorescent complex. A method is presented for analyzing calcein to determine the optimal concentration for both greatest linearity and greatest reproducibility. Serum calcium as determined with the "UNOPETTE" system is compared with results obtained by use of a Technicon SMA 12/60.
