Abstract
A procedure was developed for the quantitative determination of inositol hexaphosphates in extracts of soils and manures. The inositol hexaphosphates were separated from other phosphorus compounds by anion‐exchange chromatography in a simplified adaptation of the technique developed originally by Smith and Clark. Dilute hydrochloric acid extracts of manures can be added directly to the exchange columns, but extracts of soils obtained by the usual acid‐alkali extraction procedure must be given a preliminary treatment to remove organic matter that otherwise would flocculate under the acid conditions in the exchange columns. Keywords
