Abstract
A local central potential is employed to investigate the elastic scattering of electrons by neon atoms. The potential accounts for the first-order direct and exchange effects and the second-order polarisation effects. The differential and total elastic cross sections for energies between 100-1000 eV are obtained. The results are in satisfactory agreement with the recent experimental results for E>or=200 eV.Keywords
