Abstract
We show that the spin-dependent structure function of spin-one hadrons, , is related to the electric quadrupole moment of the target, and obtain for isoscalar targets if the sea of quarks and antiquarks is unpolarized. We show how this sum rule is modified in the presence of a polarized sea.
