Abstract
From the caecal contents of 26 freeliving baboons (Papio cynocephalus), shot in north Mozambique, 34 yeast isolates were obtained, distributed as shown (in brackets) among the following species: Torulopisis glabrata (11), candida krusei (7), C. parapsilosis (5), Pichia membranaefaciens (3), C. albicans (2), Saccharomyces transvaalensis (1), Hanseniaspora valbyensis (1), T. pintolopesii (1), C. guilliermondii (1), not identified (2). The very high incidence of T. glabrata (42.3%) and low incidence of C. albicans (7.7%) found in the baboon series, are compared with the incidences that have been found for both species in different racial groups of man. Keywords
