Umbel Initiation and Stem Elongation in Fennel(Foeniculum vulgare)Initiated by Photoperiod

Abstract
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) initiated umbels and commenced rapid stem elongation when photoperiods exceeded 13.5 hours. At this stage, plants had developed 15 to 16 nodes below the primary umbel and had 8 to 9 expanded leaves. Fennel required a minimum of eight fully expanded leaves and at least ten inductive cycles for umbel initiation.
