Abstract
From experimental and theoretical results a complete qualitative picture of the mesotron component is evolved. The intensity, the production, the decay-coefficient of the mesotrons in the whole atmosphere as well as the origin of the mesotrons at sea level are obtained in the form of curves. It is further shown that this picture gives a satisfactory interpretation of the anomalous absorption, the atmospheric effects and the latitude effect at sea level. Keywords
