Abstract
The secondary hyperparathyroidism in uremic patients is due to the modification in plasma electrolyte concentrations accompanied by a renal resistance to PTH [parathyroid hormone] action. The retention of a uremic toxin could be at least partly responsible for this resistance. This hypothesis was tested in vitro by measuring the action of middle molecules on the adenylate cyclase activity stimulated by NaF, PTH and isoproterenol. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
