Abstract
The authors study detail preserving median filters for image processing. Multilevel FIR median hybrid (FMH) filters are analyzed, and it is shown that some multilevel structures can be expressed as single weighted FMH filters. The in-place growing median concept, which has shown promising results with one-dimensional signals, is extended into image processing. Keywords
