Abstract
A semiclassical description of the K-shell ionisation induced by heavy charged particles, derived from the quantal DWBA formulation, is presented. The non-relativistic electron form factor is obtained in terms of special functions, and closed-form expressions for the semiclassical orbital integrals taken along hyperbolic orbits are given in terms of modified Bessel functions. Model calculations for several differential cross sections are presented and compared with the corresponding results of the plane-wave Born approximation. Comparisons with recent experiments are also given. Keywords
