Abstract
We review the question of which connectives (conjunctions, disjunctions and negations) may be of interest in fuzzy logic. Several alternative structures to the classical Boolean algebras are presented and discussed. We show how techniques from the theory of functional equations may help to clarify the problem of choosing appropriate connectives or refusing inadequate operations. Keywords
