Abstract
Frequent blood samples from 6 [male][male] given 50 g. glucose in 250 ml. tea while subjected to O2 deficiency at 5500-6200 m. simulated altitude showed the height of the glucose tolerance curve was not different from that of controls at normal O2 pressure except that the hypoglycemic phase was much shortened or entirely suppressed; blood pyruvic acid increased whereas in normal subjects, pyruvic acid decreases as blood sugar falls. O2 deficiency alone decreases inorganic P in the blood and P excretion in the urine, and this effect is further increased by adm. of the glucose. The decrease in inorganic P in blood is compensated by increase in phosphate ester.This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
