Abstract
It is shown that the strain response of low-density polyethylene to a variety of complex loading conditions may be described by a standard plasticity equation. The apparatus was modified slightly, from its original form, though the experimental procedures were essentially unchanged from those described in an earlier paper. The results show that the equivalent stress and strain equations can be used with some confidence in design calculations and the tensile data which are widely available for polyethylene can be applied to general problems involving combined stress. Keywords
