Abstract
Repiratory distress developed in a patient during peritoneal dialysis. The chest X-ray film demonstrated acute hydrothorax. Drainage of the peritoneal cavity effected prompt dis- appearance of most of the pleural fluid. It is proposed that in this patient, direct communication developed between the peritoneal and pleural cavities, which was responsible for acute hydrothorax appearing during peritoneal dialysis.
