Abstract
The survival time of chicks given infectious doses of S. pullorum was shown to be increased following administration of arginine. No increase in survival time was noted when arginine was given 48 hours prior to infection. Glycine and tryptophan had no effect on survival times of infected chicks, and methionine had only a slight effect. Some possible roles of arginine in altering the establishment and maintenance of pullorum disease in the chick were suggested. Keywords
