Abstract
The Strategic Weapon System Training Program was designed and developed in order to serve the constant training needs of the U.S. Navy's Polaris, Poseidon and Trident submarine force. This training program possesses unique characteristics in that it follows an instructional systems approach for program design from the identifying of training needs, through the designing and developing of instruction, followed by the evaluation of both training effectiveness and trainee readiness. The model constructed for this training program involves the active participation of both Navy activities and a family of hardware and engineering services support contractors. This program has been in operation for over twenty years, and has become recognized by the Navy as a most effective and desirable training program model. Keywords
