Mach Effect Associated with Microscope Images

Abstract
The distributions of subjective brightness in the microscope images of an opaque straight edge under various conditions of illumination are compared with the corresponding physical luminance distributions. The importance of the contour-enhancing function of the eye during visual observations with the microscope is shown.Keywords
