Abstract
This article examines Martin Buber's dialogical principle in relationship to humanistic psychology and communication theory. A recent article is taken as a foil to demonstrate how misleading dichotomies might arise to thwart useful synthesis. Special emphasis is given to the concepts of role, image, empathy, and self, along with their phenomenological implications. Keywords
