THE EFFECT OF ALPHA ESTRADIOL BENZOATE ON THE SKELETAL DEVELOPMENT OF IMMATURE RATS

Abstract
The skeletal development of rats of the Douredoure strain was not influenced by amts. of [alpha] estradiol benzoate sufficient to produce an increase of approx. 200% in the size of the uterus and a marked involution of the thymus during periods up to 50 days. The % of ash in the bones of the treated animals was no greater than in the control animals. Roentgenogram of the forepaws of the rats revealed no influence on the ossification centers.
