Abstract
This article uses interview data to examine (1) the prominent bodily losses and disruptions experienced by men with AIDS and (2) the effect these losses and disruptions have on friendships, work, and leisure activities. By focusing on these themes, the article illustrates some of the vexing self-challenges encountered by men with AIDS as their illness advances and alters their bodies and relationships. It also reveals the strategies they rely on to address these challenges and sustain a sense of self-value.Keywords
