Abstract
The sequence of 29 nucleotides immediately preceding the starting point of transcription of the E. coli tyrosine tRNA gene has been determined. This is: [Formula: see text] The sequence contains regions of 2-fold symmetry. Transcription of the gene begins at the first nucleotide to the left of nucleotide 1 and is leftward. Keywords
