Alternate derivation of vacuum tunneling

Abstract
A field-theoretical derivation of the vacuum-tunneling effect is presented which gives results similar to the recent work of Callan and Coleman. An expression for the decay rate is exhibited which takes into account the zero and negative eigenmodes of the linearized Green's function.Keywords
