Abstract
IN this issue of the Journal, Pickard et al. report an exciting observation supporting the hypothesis that Duchenne muscular dystrophy is associated with membrane abnormalities in cells from tissues other than muscle. The abnormal capping observed in B and T lymphocytes is compatible with disorganization of the membrane or the microtubules, or both, as prior studies of erythrocytes by various technics have already suggested.The observation that impairment of lymphocyte capping is quantitatively similar in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and most of their mothers has a number of important implications.
