Abstract
Variational calculations for determining the permeability of the Sato potential‐energy surface as described by Weston have been made for the reaction H + H2 = H2 + H treated as a linear encounter. The results compare favorably with the corresponding calculations of Mortensen and Pitzer. The variational functions describing the asymptotic regions have a form after that of Kohn. Keywords
