Abstract
(1) Two components of ß-glucuronidase and four components of its nondialyzable inhibitors were separated from pregnancy urine by DEAE-cellulose and Sephadex G-200 column chromatography. (2) The ß-glucuronidase inhibitors, designated as I-H and II-H, appeared by Sephadex gel filtration to have molecular weights of about 200,000; and those called I-L and II-L, about 8,000 to 10,000. (3) All inhibitors were stable to trypsin or heat treatment. (4) The inhibitor fraction (I-H) of higher molecular weight contained glycoprotein comprised of protein, hexose, hexosamine, fucose, sialic acid and uronic acid. (5) The inhibition by each fraction was noncompetitive, and it was completely suppressed by Na(2)SO(4).Keywords
