Abstract
The phlorhizinized dog is an unsatisfactory prep. for detn. of the amt. of glucose that can be obtained from protein since there is an unknown amt. of glucose utilized by the tissues in addition to what is excreted. When such an animal is fed protein this tissue utilization is increased. The depancreatized dog is more suitable for this problem. Fed protein here is largely excreted as extra sugar. Observations on such animals indicate that about 0.9 g. of sugar is produced from 1 g. of protein. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
