Abstract
The study of steady state operation of squirrel cage induction machines may be seen from the point of view of the theory of circuits with periodically variable mutual inductances. Thus, there is no initial splitting of flux linkages between main and leakage linkages ; such a splitting may be either completely avoided, or delayed until equivalent circuits are defined ; in the latter case, particularly simple formulas are given to express the harmonic leakages of the squirrel cage. Considering a very large number of harmonics of the variable mutual inductances is as simple and as straightforward to use as the definition of harmonic leakages, and as accurate as the use of zig zag and belt leakages concepts. Keywords
