Studies on the Function of Ribonuclease Inhibitor in Rat Liver

Abstract
1. Ribonuclease inhibitor was purified from rat liver about 800 fold and its properties were studied and found to be those of a protein. 2. The inhibitor was present in the soluble fractions of various rat tissues. 3. The activity of the inhibitor in rat liver increased after partial hepatectomy. 4. The increased ability of polyribosomes from rat liver after partial hepatectomy to incorporate amino acids into protein was not related to the content of the inhibitor in the liver.
