Abstract
The reaction of ˙CH2C(CH3)2OH with Cuaq + yields the short-lived transient complex [CuIICH2C(CH3)2OH]aq +. The spectrum of the latter complex is reported. [CuIICH2C(CH3)2OH]aq + decomposes into Cuaq ++ CH2 C(CH3)2+OH–. The specific rate of this reaction is 5.0 × 104+ 8.6 × 107[H3O+] S–1. The kinetics are discussed in comparison with those of analogous reactions reported earlier.Keywords
